Description: VERY OLD CARVED LOWER SEPIK RIVER DRUM - PAPUA/NEW GUINEA - AS-FOUND - 28 1/2" L Click images to enlarge Description A very early example of a Lower Sepik River carved wood drum from Papua/New Guinea, possibly 19th century, given the condition of the surfaces. It is in as-found, untouched condition, 28 1/2" long, 5" in diameter, and 6 1/2" wide, including handle. The surface is un-touched, showing clear signs of wear and use. There are numerous tight checks in the wood, and there is a large chip missing from one rim. There are no drum skins.
