Vintage 1960's Cortebert Perseo Subaqua 20 ATM All SS Diver w/Patina,Runs Strong

Description: ***********Given that the movement shows no clear signs of ever having been serviced a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.*********** In the 1920's Cortebert began distributing their watches in Italy under the Perseo brand name. This seldom seen vintage 1960's Perseo dive watch has a grayish silver satin "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows age-related wear. The tritium on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully over time. The black and silver bezel, which shows moderate wear and rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, presents nicely. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with insignificant signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "PRIX OBSERVATOIRES SWISS MADE ALL STAINLESS STEEL 60 1ERS" with "20 ATMOS" followed by "SUBAQUA,""286201" and "SB" stamped in the center. The crystal shows scratching with some dust/debris on its underbelly.The 21 jewels Swiss "CORT.286," which is Cortebert's automatic movement based on the ETA 2472, is clean, keeps accurate time and the date wheel rolls over at 12 am. The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20.5 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After winding the sharply threaded non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had a healthy power reserve of approximately 42 hours. The crown winds smoothly. Given that this watch is more than 50 years old with a movement that shows no clear signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or the movement) a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 39.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 11 mm. The fully pliable, period correct 19 mm three keeper strap with signature "ACIER" flared buckle shows light wear.Although the movement runs strong and keeps accurate time given the vintage nature of this watch and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended.
