Description: This is a vintage CASE 62131 “Canoe” pattern pocket knife. This is the older style Canoe with heavy blade stock and a single backspring. The tang stamp is CASE XX USA 7 dot 1973. The dots are all visible on the tang. The knife is 3-1/2” closed with brass liners and pinned oval CASE shield. The blade steel is CV (carbon) steel. The blades each have strong snap with no side to side wobble. The handles are chestnut bovine bone with great color. The handles have no cracks or damage. A mint knife - never sharpened, carried, or cleaned, original factory finish and edges. The bolsters and the backspring have minor rub marks from handling. Note: This is a rare "transition" knife, with the 7 dot 1973 stamp and the "Canoe" blade etch. Case introduced the etched blade in 1974 (six dot) but a few of the etched blades were made with the older 7-dot tang stamp.Includes a scarce vintage Case "pumpkin" box that originally held six of the 62131 pattern.The handles on this knife were crafted from South American Zebu cattle shin bone.
