The instructions cover two sizes; namely to fit either a 32-34 and 36-38 inch bust, and was originally worked in Coats Cadenza Courtelle 4-ply or Coats Carefree Bri-nylon 4-ply on appropriate hooks (see below), both were synthetic yarns, but are now discontinued, however try a modern 4-ply, but work your tension square in your chosen yarn and change hook as needed to obtain the correct tension.
