Both brands are authentic. They separated decades ago but they derived from the original Masamoto. This is the vintage Masamoto Sohonten's yanagiba shaped sashimi knife made in late 80s or early 90s. The original owner has preserved the knife well. It has the marks rust left, but it won't affect your use. The black horn ferrule / bolster has minor chips. I filled a deep chips with a filler.
