Description: Arvin Industries, Inc., was a major player in home radios during the 1950s. They had been manufacturing home radios since 1934 when the company reworked its product line in order to survive Great Depression. Their AM radios were generally made on high quality chassis with excellent electrical components. The cases were well designed and sound quality was well above the norms for the day. They were considered among the most reliable radios made. This example in turquoise is a 1956 model with dual speakers and tone control (not often found on radios of this period). We have restored the electrics with new components where needed to assure reliable performance. We have also replaced the power cord. The radio plays very well with great tuning sensitivity and a lovely resonant sound. Cosmetically the case is in very good shape and has no structural damage; no cracks, chips or bruised areas on the plastic. There are light scratches on the surface but difficult to see and the finish retains its original high gloss. The main indicator of its 67 year old age is the wear to the paint on the tuning numbers and some missing areas of gold decorative paint around the front bezel (see Photo #5). Dimensions: 13 1/2" wide, just under 7 " high and slightly over 5 inches deep. We pay the shipping and the radio will be carefully boxed and shipped.
