Description: I have been an observer and occasional participant in the fascinating and frustrating process of U.S. politics for almost 60 years. I have been a casual rather than obsessive collector of campaign buttons etc. along the way. In this case, my father collected this 1940 Willkie button as I was not born yet, much less reached voting age. This is a vintage 80 year old button, the real McCoy . It is not a copy, or a modern day replica. There is some rust on the pin. (as seen in photo). On the side is what I think is a Union "bug" (see third picture) indicating the button was made with union labor. From WikipediaWendell Lewis Willkie (born Lewis Wendell Willkie; February 18, 1892 – October 8, 1944) was an American lawyer, corporate executive, and the 1940 Republican nominee for President of the United States. Willkie appealed to many convention delegates as the Republican field's only interventionist: although the U.S. remained neutral prior to Pearl Harbor, he favored greater U.S. involvement in World War II to support Britain and other Allies. His Democratic opponent, incumbent President Franklin D. Roosevelt, won the 1940 election with about 55% of the popular vote and took the electoral college vote by a wide margin. General Rules of Thumb - The pictures are all taken by me and are of the actual item(s) being sold. I try to take multiple detail photos of items to show them to the best of my ability. Contact me if you have any questions. Best OffersIf I have something listed for $100, I am NOT going to accept an offer of $5. I think my pricing fair for the item and it's condition, I might consider taking a little less to make a sale. To me, getting what you want at a great price is what eBay is all about. Sales TaxeBay is enforcing the Michigan state sales tax (6%) on items I sell plus the shipping and handling. This is NOT something with which I as the seller have ANY involvement. eBay charges you the buyer the tax and also pays the tax to the Gubmint. I never come into possession of the tax funds. Shipping:I almost always list shipping & handling separately. Everyone knows that shipping isn't actually FREE, including the shipping cost in the price of the item hides the actual price of the item. I use US Postal Service almost all the time, in this case USPS First Class. I try to reuse packaging, so if your item arrives in an Amazon box, it's not a drop ship from Amazon. I do add a little to the base postage to account for materials cost and handling. I try to get the item mailed the same day it sells, except for after business hours, weekends and postal holidays. *** International Buyers *** While I only ship to the continental United States, but this includes the eBay Global Shipping Center. It gets me out of dealing with customs forms and international shipping but gets you the item you want. *** Guarantee ***I understand that buying items sight unseen on the internet can be scary at times, for that reason I offer a 100% MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. You can return your item within 30 days for a full refund - no questions asked.
