VTG India Pichwai FRAMED silk Painting: Krishna w/ Radha, Gopis, lotus, peacocks

Description: VTG India Pichwai FRAMED Painting of Krishna with Radha,Gopis and sacred peacocks; fabric? Family friends Chick and Elaine traveled the world, bringing back great stories and wonderful souvenirs. This painting is from an early 1980s trip to India; it looks like it is on fabric in the Pichwai style, but cannot tell for sure as it is professionally framed. Krishna is painted in an embrace with his beloved Radha,surrounded by the sacred peacocks important in his life, and watched over by Gopi cowherd women in a garden of trees, flowers (lotus) and gold fences/buildings. A floral border surrounds the painting. The background is dark and the painted colors are vibrant. My photos do not do the vibrancy justice, as I am encountering glare from the sun and protective glass. The actual age of the painting is unknown, but has been in the USA for at least 40 years. Chick and Elaine did not do anything by halves and always purchased quality. The painting has been professionally framed with a double matte in a gold metal frame. (The frame has received a couple scuffs from moving, and the paper on the back has a puncture; see photos.) The frame is 14.5” x18.75”; the art is 9” x 12.75”*** Shipped with USPS Mail.
