Description: Basketville Putney VT Wooden Basket Purse Hand Painted Lid Lined. Vintage 1970sThis basket is from the famous Basketville store in Putney, Vermont. The vintage wooden basket has a hand painted hinged lid The basket has a brown weave, wooden base and swing handle. The wooden lid is painted in a peach color with brightly colored fruit and leaves painted for the design. The inside of the lid is also painted with a couple of plums. There is a signature dedication on the inside of the basket from one friend to another: “To Sibyl from Judy 1978”The inside of the basket is lined with peach and white gingham check fabric. The purse measures just over 10 inches across from handle edge to edge x 5-1/2 inches in width, measured at the top, middle. The basket is 6 inches in height to the top of the lid and about 10-1/2 inches in height with the handle extended. Stamped on the bottom: Putney Basketville VermontThe basket is in very nice condition. The structure is sturdy and there are no breaks or flaws to the woven pieces.
