Description: A WW2 RAF LANCASTER MERLIN ENGINE EXHAUST STUB. This from the crash site / area of a Lancaster, ED 583 which came down on 4th October 1943. The bomber from 100 Squadron based at Grimsby broke up in mid air with a large section falling on a Chapel & demolishing it.The stub with old markings found Grainsby-Nth Thoresby etc. The stub still has original hardened mud and has been left and not cleaned. Interesting display piece.
