You are bidding on the ninth cover of a set of 100 first day covers containing stamps issued in the Marshall Islands commemorating the 50th anniversaries of the 100 most significant events starting with the invasion of Poland and ending up with the end of World War II on VJ day, September 2, 1945. This ninth cover depicts the 50th Anniversary of the Evacuation at Dunkirk, Northern France. 848 ships were used to evacuate 338,226 men from Dunkirk. The cover is dual cancelled and the red cancellation is from Majuro proper on June 4, 1990, 50 years after the evacuation. The cover bears two different 45 cent Deliverance at Dunkirk 1940 stamps with inscriptions. The cover also contains a 15 cent Marshall Islands precancel. The cover is signed by Sailass Andrike, Director of Post for the Republic of the Marshall Islands. The creator of the cover is a member of the American Philatelic Society.
